The numerology number calculated from the vowels of the full birth name, representing the inner desires, motivations and emotional drives.

Origin

The vowel-only calculation was developed within early 20th-century American numerology, distinguishing the inner self (vowels, "soul sounds") from the outer self (consonants, "personality sounds"). The split was theorised by Mrs. L. Dow Balliett.

Development

Calculate by summing only the vowel values of the full birth name and reducing. A-E-I-O-U are always vowels; Y is treated as a vowel when it functions as one (e.g., "Mary," "rhythm") and as a consonant elsewhere, a distinction that varies between schools.

In Practice
